Neta Zchoot
MSc student
Neta studies the factors controlling the distribution of inorganic and organic components in the seagrass Halophila stipulacea in the Gulf of Aqaba, aiming to understand how environmental conditions shape seagrass chemistry and ecosystem functioning.

Lara Janah
MSc student
Lara’s research focuses on seagrass decomposition and sediment biogeochemistry. She examines how the breakdown of seagrass organic matter influences carbon cycling, nutrient regeneration, and redox processes in coastal sediments, providing insight into the role of decomposition in blue carbon preservation.

Matan Skashidlak
MSc student
In collaboration with Dr Rotem Golan- Volcani Institute
Matan’s research focuses on porewater biogeochemistry in restored wetlands across Israel. He examines how interactions among sulfur, iron, nutrient, and methane cycles influence carbon preservation and shape the chemical environment of wetland sediments. His work contributes to understanding how restoration efforts affect the long-term stability of carbon in these ecosystems.

Brithany Beaudoin
MSc student
In collaboration with Dr André Pellerin- Université du Québec à Rimouski
Brittany studies how the elemental composition of Zostera marina changes with the seasons in the St. Lawrence Estuary, linking nutrient variability to seagrass health and ecosystem function.

Nadav Lederer
BSc student

Julia Ghantous
PhD student
In Collaboration with Dr Keren Yanuka-Golub- The Galilee Society Institute
Julia’s research focuses on microbial ecology in wetlands across Israel. She investigates how microbial communities interact with sediment chemistry to drive key biogeochemical processes, influencing nutrient cycling, carbon storage, and the success of wetland restoration efforts.

Liz Kikoshvili
MSc student
In collaboration with Dr Michal Birkenfeld Department of Archaeology, BGU
Liz studies the transition from hunter-gatherer societies to early farming and settlement, estimating how this shift altered the human ecological footprint and reshaped human–environment interactions.
